|
|
I don't know how many have been following my aquarium saga; But, here's a quick update. I purchased a 150 gallon aquarium, stand, glass lids & light from Petsmart in Jacksonville, NC. TopFin is the brand name, which means it's a Perfecto. Thought I'd include some important warranty info for y'all. *If you purchase an aquarium from Petsmart, you must also purchase their corresponding stand in order to secure the "lifetime" warranty. This is the main reason, I made the purchase from this vendor. This particular fish tank has a a unique dimension. It's approx 48" long X 24" deep X 31" high. At anyrate, I thought it was good info to relay to y'all regarding the Petsmart warranty. Do you think this tank will suffice to house a Malawi Blue Dophin AND a Frontosa??? |

As far as I know, every aquarium manufacturer requires that the tank be placed on one of their stands for the warranty to be valid... Very good information to put out there for anyone who hasn't heard that clause...
It's often said this is a ploy to force you to buy their stand, and that is one of the benefits the company sees... but at the same time without such a stipulation people would be putting huge tanks on weak dressers and trying to claim it's the tank manufacturer's fault it broke...
It's sort of a shame, but companies do need to over protect themselves from being blamed for user error... The good old days of relying on people to have common sense has long passed... _________________ The happier you make your fish the happier they will make you

| The aquarium stands that I've built over the years were 10 times stronger than this one. If I "beef-up" this stand by re-enforcing the framework, it will void the warranty. I think that's a liitle crazy........So, getting back.to my question; Will this tank suffice to accomadate a Malawi Blue Dolphin and a Frontosa?, given it's weird dimensions?. Sorry for the crummy typing, I'm using a "CrackBerry". |

I suggest against beefing up the stand. They have done ample testing to determine how to build the stands so that they are sturdy and safe but with the least amount of material or the cheapest material...
I also have a very home made stands and all of mine are much better built than the store bought stands. But none the less my store bought stands have lasted years and years without issue. "Beefing it up" just makes you feel better but voids the warranty you previously viewed as valuable...
I don't keep Africans, so I can't help on the stocking... sorry... _________________ The happier you make your fish the happier they will make you
