Bougt Silicone says "Aquarium Safe" contains petro

Postby lucky777*** » Sun Apr 22, 2012 1:10 am

Making DYI caves bought Silicone at local store stated in Giant letters "Aquarium Safe" but when I check the ingredients it says contains some "petroleum distillates". Is this not bad?

I read some posts that said yes and some that said no and that they will break down organically.

Is it that big of a deal?

The silicone you bought is safe, as it says on the tube. What is in the soft, liquid, silicone prior to cure and what is there after are too different things. I have a 3 pack of that silicone in the basement waiting for use.
