I feed Omega One Cichlid Pellets to my Central and South American cichlids and they love it. Awesome food with quality ingredients. My fish's colors are very vibrant and they eat it up like pigs.
I gave this food a try for my victorian cichlids and I had some dietary issues. I came across bloat and I had to treat it. Very bad for africans. I don't reccommend it at all. NLS for life!
This is the only food my fish will eat. (besides the treat of emerald green etc) I have tried wardley, they won't even look at it. Hikari, they will mouth and spit out and leave to rot in the tank if I let it. My fish have very vivid coloring thanks to Omega One. It is the only kind of food my cichlids get from fry (I crush it to a powder) to my adult fish. There is never a pellet left floating in the tank. I have 9 tanks, largest being 210g and I don't have a fish in any of my tanks that lack for color or health. Omega One is simply #1 in my book.
Fits the bill for my requirements: good ingredients, floats, fish love it.... Check out the ingredients, the majority is fresh seafood (whole salmon / whole herring / whole shrimp). Compare this to Hikari and others that use corn, etc. as fillers very high up on their ingredient list.
I have found that for my Tanganyikans, and for the Malawiians that I have kept, this food stays hard at the surface for way too long. Fish will routinely spit it out, losing interest in it quickly, even when it (finally) becomes water saturated and will not break the fish's teeth. I recommend a pellet that sinks/absorbs water more quickly, and passing this one by. I have a container that I have had for 2 years that is still almost full - that is how well my fish like this stuff.
as well as others i have immediately seen increase in size, colour and eagerness to eat... I was told by the lfs this food is bad, LOL i did alot of research and its AWSOME food for cichlids, my fish are proving it.
its very high in fat and theres artificial coloring in it! other than that its made a BIG difference when switched from hikari! my cichlids are much bigger and more colorful!
I've been feeding my Jack Dempsey these pellets for the last several months and he loves them. He is eager to eat, whereas before he was hesitant and waited for flakes to fall to him. But since I started with the Omega One pellets, he is swimming to the top as I walk over. I have also noticed an increase in the depth of his colors since using this product. They are much more pronounced and more vibrant. Very little mess as the pellets hold together well, though very few stay uneaten for more than a few minutes. Great product and I highly recommend it.
The only pellet my midas will eat. He refuses HIkairi to this, and for the 5 bucks I got it for, packs a lot of food.
Great wholesome ingrediants, practically no fillers (and even so it is just about the last ingrediant). Made from whole fish and inverts, no "meals". Also contains spirulina/kelp, and krill too.
Awesome food, my midas has doubled in size since I got him, being fed primarily this, along with bloodworms, crickets, etc.
My oscar and convicts love this food and it realy brings out the color in my fish, just recently bought a 2 inch midas and he seems to really enjoy them to. A little lower in protein so easy to digest, great food.
